Achievements, Performances and Exhibitions

      In recent years, faculty and student Artists of Shaanxi Normal University have made considerable achievements on various stages and occasions, in music, dance, theatre and visual arts.


Music,  Dance & Theatre


      In December 2013, the vocal ensemble “Liuyi Zhuhe” (Six Arts Association literally) coached by Prof. Zhang Xiangxia won the Best Singing Group Award in the “Wenhua Award) “First Shaanxi Province Shanbei (Northern Shaanxi) Flok Song Contest” and Wang Xiao, a graduate student won the Individual Singer Award in the same contest.


      In October 2013 in the Third National Vocal Competition for Music Education Majors of Chinese Universities and Colleges, Feng Chenxi won the First Prize and Li Kaiming won the Second Prize in Undergraduate Bel Canto group, Wang Hongliang won the Thrid Prize in Teachers Folksong group, Han Xiaodong and Fan Wanxin won the Thrid Prizes in Graduate Folksong group, and Yao Qing won the “Excellent Instructor”award.


      In October 2013, Na Haohan, pianist and associate professor of School of Music, won the first prize in the Teacher’s Piano Solo Group A (under 35 years old) of the 2013 Fourth National Music Education Piano Contest for College Teachers.


      In October 2013 in the Vocal Competition of the Fourth Shaanxi Province Music Awards, our teachers Wang Hongliang and Li Yayun won the Golden Award and Silver Award respectively in the Professional Folksong Group, graduate students Han Xiaodong and Zhu Haifang won the Silver Award and Bronze Award respectively in the Professional Folksong Group, and undergraduate student Xu Ting won the Golden Award in Amateur Folksong Group.


      In August 2013 in the Fifth National Vocal Contest for Chinese Universities organized by the Chinese Musicians Association, graduate student Zhang Yanhua won Silver Award in Student Folksong Group, and Prof. Zhang Zhibin won the Excellent Instructor Award.


      In March 2013 in the Astromonte International Vocal and Piano Contest held in Italy’s Venice, graduate student Li Yixiao, under the instruction of Prof. Tian Dacheng, won the Second Prize and Best Stage Performance Award.


      In September 2013, a Shaanxi Normal University troupe led by Prof. Tian Dacheng, vocalist and dean of the School of Music, visited the University of Arizona in the U.S.A. and performed during its “Second Chinese Cultural Festival”. 


      In October 2012, Ms Mi Zuo, a teacher from the School of Music, won the gold medal at the Tenth China Western Folk Song (Hua’er) Contest & Fourth China (Ningxia) International Cultural and Tourism Exposition.


      In September 2012, thirty teachers and students of the School of Music staged a concert at Taiwan Normal University during their one week visit to Taiwan.


      In May 2012, the Chinese Orchestra of the School of Music won the second place in the Instrumental Ensemble Category of Shaanxi Province Second Traditional Chinese Instruments Contest.


      In August 2011, Qing Ruiying, a teacher from the School of Music, won the gold medal in the Young Specialist Group in the “Dunhuang Cup” First National Youth Pipa (Chinese Lute) Contest.


      In September 2011, the excerpts from the Opera Don Juan won the group bronze award in the “Fifth National Opera and Vocal Music Show by Higher Art Academies.”


Visual  Arts


      In November 2013 in the China Competition of the 8th National Geographic Photo Contest, graduate student Wang Weitao won the Second Prize in the People Category with his work “Children Playing Swing”, which was also awarded the “Huaxia Collection Award”.


      In August 2012, “Standing Fast on Native Land”, the Lacquer Works Exhibition by Ren Xiaodong, a teacher at the School of Fine Arts of Shaanxi Normal University, was held at the Xi’an Art Museum.


       In October 2011, the “Beautiful Angels” by Jiang Jinshi, a teacher at the School of Fine Arts of Shaanxi Normal University, won the first prize in the Painting and Calligraphy Category of the sixth Shaanxi Provincial Art Festival.


      In August 2011, Li Ping and Li Li, teachers from the School of Fine Arts, won awards at the 2011 “China Star” Design Art Grand Prix, in the Book and Magazine Category and the Poster Category respectively.


      In 2011, the “Chinese Yearly Animal Symbol” Stamp designed by Wang Jinhua, a teacher at the School of Fine Arts of Shaanxi Normal University, was issued by the United Nations Postal Service in thirteen countries and regions including China, the U.S.A., Maldives, and Guiana, etc.


      Li Fan, photographer and associate professor at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, won numerous photographic awards and held exhibitions in recent years.

2011  Silver Award, Bronze Award and Honorable Mention in the Non-professional Documentary Category of “Zoom-in On Poverty Global Photo Contest” organized by the Xinhua News Agency and the United Nations Development Program.
